Competency Based
Training
Our Bottom
Line Improvements division (BLI)
has developed an Employee Integration
Process that encompasses two components: 1)
Integrating the employee as part of the team. 2)Competency
Based Training. According to Rick
Olsen, a nationally recognized trainer, "97%
of all training is ineffective and it follows a model of show
them, leave them, and pray". The hope
is that simply being provided information they will see the
rational in using it, absorb all of the information, change
their behavior patterns, and do things perfectly. In the
real world, it doesn't work that way. Our process focusing
on identifying the key tasks and
skills that new people need to know immediately. Next we clearly
communicate our expectation of what is to be learned
and how long it should take to learn it. A coach is assigned
to assist him with his skill development. A Pocket
ToolBox is provided which contains a reference manual
(Ready Reference) and a "skill
block tracking" card. Weekly the training process
is recorded and a report is printed for management. The
essence of the system is to develop habit patterns that assure
predictable competent performance. Click
